Phenolic faced birch ply
Wolds timber buildings are now incorporating phenolic faced birch ply into our range of poultry housing. This ply wood has a plastic resin bonded to it that produces a watertight seal to the face of the ply. It is coated both sides and is used on our nest box roofs and poultry housing floors. This is makes cleaning out our poultry housing very easy as it can be washed out with disinfectant helping to prevent disease. The other main advantage with it is it makes an ideal roof material for external nest boxes. Felt roofs which have wooden roof and a layer of felt on them creates a hiding place for red spider mite, because the plastic resin is tightly bonded to the ply there is no where for the mite to hide, this does help in preventing infestations of red spider mite. We do recommend that your poultry housing is sprayed regularly as part of your measures in preventing spider mite outbreaks.
