The Mini Ranger

This Chicken house is ideally suited for the small scale production of free range eggs; it will hold 30 hens at the stocking rate of 9 birds per square meter. One side of the shed has 2 adjustable sliding ventilation windows and entrance pop hole and the opposite side has 6 external rear entry nest boxes. Each nest box is 12 inches x 12 inches which gives plenty of room for all breeds of chicken. The nest box roof is covered with 9mm external phenolic faced ply. This has a plastic coating bonded to both faces of the ply smooth on one side textured on the other; we have found this to be the most suitable for nest boxes because it is totally waterproof and last for a long time unlike poor quality felt and plastic sheeting. The other advantage is that red spider mite cannot hide between the layers unlike felt.
